Test Image Generator

Create JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and TIFF test images, including animated GIF and WebP, with the exact size and resolution you need.

Image File Generator

Generate test images in multiple formats with colorful patterns.

🔧 Size matching: the image is created at your resolution and padded to the exact size. If it's larger than the target, the resolution is lowered until it fits.

What's in a Generated Image

Each image is a real file rendered in your browser: a colorful gradient by default, or broadcast-style color bars or a focus pattern from the advanced options. JPG and WebP are encoded by the browser (or by FFmpeg where a browser can't encode WebP); PNG, GIF, BMP and TIFF are written by FileMock's own encoders.

Animated GIF and WebP files have 10 frames shown for 0.1 seconds each, looping forever, with the pattern changing from frame to frame.

If the encoded image is smaller than the size you entered, padding is added after the image data so the file reaches the exact target size. Image viewers ignore it.

Size and Resolution

  • Target size from 0.001 MB to 1,000 MB (at least 2 KB for BMP and TIFF, 10 KB for animated GIF).
  • Resolution in advanced options: presets from 480p to 8K, social media sizes such as 1080 × 1080, or a custom size up to 16,384 × 16,384 pixels. The default is Full HD (1920 × 1080).
  • Color depth in advanced options: 8-bit (256-color palette), 24-bit or 32-bit for PNG and TIFF; 8, 16, 24 or 32-bit for BMP. GIF always uses a 256-color palette, and JPG and WebP are 24-bit.
  • Quality in advanced options for JPG and WebP: low, medium, high or maximum.

The image is created at the resolution and quality you choose whenever it fits the target size. If it's larger, FileMock first lowers the quality (JPG and WebP) and then the resolution until it fits; the final settings are shown after the download. Animated images are limited to 4,096 pixels on the longest side.

EXIF Metadata for JPG

For JPG images you can add EXIF metadata in the advanced options: orientation, camera make and model, date and time, exposure time, aperture, ISO, focal length, artist, copyright and software. Use it to check that photos taken in portrait mode are displayed upright, and that metadata is removed from public copies when your privacy policy requires it.

Common Uses for Test Images

  • Upload limits: generate images just under and just over a size or resolution limit.
  • Thumbnails and resizing: check cropping with square, wide and tall images, and memory use with 8K or 16K images.
  • Orientation handling: generate JPGs with each EXIF orientation value.
  • Format support: confirm which of JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and TIFF your application accepts, including animated images.
  • Storage and CDN testing: fill buckets and caches with large images of a known size.
